James 1:27 (NKJV)
"Pure and undefiled religion before God and the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their trouble, and to keep oneself unspotted from the world."

The Association of Bridge Churches has a long term presence in East Africa through its association with Pavilion Village Children’s Homes. Pavilion Village, an orphanage located at the foothills of Mount Kenya in a small village called Karura (near the city of Karatina) was founded by Michael and Elisa French (pastors of The Bridge Birmingham).

There are over 1 million orphans in Kenya alone and the vision of Pavilion Village is to assist homeless children by providing them a place to live and grow within a stable family environment. By taking children off the street and ministering to those who remain on the street we can change a nation – one child at a time.

ABC is impacting Kenya through its partnership with Pavilion Village and its support of the vision to help children reach their destiny in God. Accomplishing this vision requires attention in four vital areas:  Home, Family, Discipleship and Rehabilitation.

    1. HOME – we desire to provide children with a secure, healthy and loving environment in which to live and grow.  To do this the home must promote a family atmosphere with relatively small numbers of children in each “pavilion” (Ps. 27:5)
    2. FAMILY – children should be integrated into a traditional family environment and given the opportunity to
    3. DISCIPLESHIP – by partnering with the ABC and the local church, children are being taught to reach their God given destiny through the study of God’s Word and the examples provided by a loving family that is also devoted to the service of God.  Training such as John Paul Jackson’s The Art of Hearing God is also made available to the staff, local pastors and the children themselves.
    4. REHABILITATION – children should go to school in their community and be expected to complete their primary education.  They should also be given the opportunity for secondary, college or vocational training so that they are equipped and prepared to leave Pavilion and stand on their own two feet as men and women of God.

ABC is also committed to long term training and equipping of pastors and church leaders throughout East Africa.  Pavilion Village provides an excellent base from which to provide this assistance and to “Express the Fullness of God’s Kingdom”.
